Tributes have been paid to a student and talented artist who died after falling from a cliff.
Robin Davies fell to his death after losing his footing while out walking at a beauty spot in Aberystwyth, Wales.

A rescue operation, including a lifeboat crew and RAF helicopter, had been launched at the foot of the 435ft high Constitution Hill
but Mr Davies was pronounced dead at the scene.

Family and friends paid tribute to Mr Davies, who had been studying in the Welsh town, on a memorial site has been set up on the Gone Too Soon website.

Several people have used it to pay their respects.

Among those who used it is Mary Hobbs, who is the partner of Mr Davies' brother John, from Southbourne.

She said: "Our lives changed forever when we received the call.
"I still can't believe you've gone."

She added: "You were an inspiration to me.

"You were full of life, had the ultimate free spirit and had an amazing mind."

Mr Davies' brother John said: "I'll never forget all the good times we had growing up together and things we did.

"You were always in my thoughts and will be in them until the day we meet again."

Mr Davies' mother Denise, from Bognor Regis, said: "My son, I am so sad you have gone from this world.

"I felt your pain when you passed away love."

Friends of Mr Davies say an exhibition is being planned of his work and some of his drawings have been posted on the website.

Lucy, a fellow student at Aberystwyth University said: "Rob, you were an amazing guy with a warm heart underneath those massive heavy jumpers and big walking boots.

"You made me laugh, even when you repeated the same joke to me every day, commenting on how all my clothes looked like pyjamas.

"I'm going to miss you so much and your presence will always be felt in Aberystwyth."

An inquest has now been opened into Mr Davies' death, which happened on August 6.

His funeral is taking place tomorrow (August 20) at Chichester Crematorium starting at 12.30pm.

PERILOUS BEAUTY SPOT

Mr Davies' death is not the first accident at the Welsh beauty spot.

Constitution Hill offers panoramic views of Aberystwyth and is a popular observation point. There is a path to the top.

In 2005, a 53-year-old man was found dead on the beach at the foot of the cliffs after falling.

Also in 2005, two teenagers were rescued after becoming stranded and a female student sustained head injuries after falling from the cliffs.

In 2003 a student was rescued after becoming stuck and had to hang on to a cliff 200ft up for more than an hour.
