Council clashes over park fight funds
There was strong opposition from some members, who called for representations to be made on a basis which would not need the involvement of a barrister and a landscape consultant.
There were also warnings the result was a foregone conclusion anyway, with indications that the government had already made up its mind that the park should go ahead.

Hide AdBut the counter-claim was the council must represent many people in the district who were strongly against the park, and officers recommended the best way to do this was by appointing counsel and a consultant to appear at the hearing.
