County travel news: delays and diversions

DRIVERS are being warned about delays and diversions due to road works.

The third phase of road safety improvements on the A285 south of Petworth, is due to start today (Monday May 9).

This part of the West Sussex County Council scheme, totalling £200,000 will involve:

Resurfacing the road between the entrance of Seaford College and north of Duncton Hill/Folly Lane, and at the junction with Duncton Common (south of Burton Park Road)

Installing road studs south of Seaford College

Installing drains around Beechwood Lane

Replacing the vehicle crash barrier at the top of Duncton Hill by the viewing area

Installing a vehicle activated sign on Duncton Hill

Renewing the road markings and installing new speed limit signs

Renewing the anti-skid surfacing at the junctions in and south of Halnaker

Installing new cattle crossing warning signs in Upwaltham.

A road closure will be in place between Seaford College and north of Folly Lane (Sutton Road), from 9.30am to 4pm between May 9-13, May 16 and 17, May 19 and 20.

A signed diversion route will be via the A27, A29, B2138, A283 and Haslingbourne Lane. Duncton Village will be open at all times and accessible via Petworth.
