A woman suffered a ‘nasty’ head injury after she was attacked by a man she did not know in Horsham on Saturday (September 12).

Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault, which happened in New Street, near the railway station, at about 10.10pm.

The 27-year-old woman from Redhill was approached by a man who hit her on the head with an object, causing her to fall to the floor, police said.

The man did not say anything to her and fled the scene after a member of the public who saw the attack intervened.

PC Mike Leech, from the Horsham district response team said: “This was a totally random and unprovoked attack that has left a woman with a nasty head injury.

“The victim was approached by someone she has never met before and attacked. If anyone was in or around the area during the time of the attack, then please contact us.”
