A driver who crashed his BMW 316 into a roundabout on the A21 at John’s Cross on Boxing Day was almost twice over the legal drink-drive limit.

Adam Kalus, 28, was arrested at 9.20pm on Boxing Day.

Kalus, of Northfield Road, Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, pleaded guilty to drink-driving when he appeared at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on February 18.

He was banned from driving for 18 months and ordered to pay a £370 fine, £85 costs and a £37 victim surcharge.

Also on Boxing Day, a Sandhurst man was arrested after being stopped by police in Market Road, Battle at 10.40am.

Charles McCormack, 36, was almost twice the drink-drive limit.

McCormack, of Rye Road, Sandhurst, Kent, pleaded guilty to drink-driving when he appeared at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 18 February.

He was banned from driving for 18 months and ordered to pay a £110 fine, £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
