Firefighters from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (WSFRS) and paramedics attended the incident in Fennel Crescent yesterday evening. WSFRS and South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) have been contact for more information. A WSFRS spokesperson said: “Joint Fire Control was alerted to a fire involving a domestic dwelling in Fennel Crescent in Broadfield, Crawley, at 6.10pm on Thursday (July 23). Two appliances from Crawley Fire Station were mobilised to the scene and upon arrival were faced with a well-developed fire involving the ground and first floors of a mid-terrace property. A further two appliances from Turners Hill and Horsham were mobilised to the scene. The fire was quickly brought under control by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using main jets and high pressure hose reels. It was confirmed that all persons were accounted for. The Red Cross Fire Emergency Support unit attended the incident to provide support to the household members from the affected and adjacent properties.” A SECAmb spokesperson said, “We were called to this incident shortly before 6.30pm on Thursday (July 23). We attended the scene following reports of a person suffering from smoke inhalation. The person declined further treatment.”
