Firefighters were called to a fire in Worthing town centre this evening (June 28).

Pictures from the scene show fire crews in High Street, hosing down an extremely smokey fire to the side of the road which appears to have burned through one of the blue fence panels around Union Place.

Sussex Police are also on the scene.

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said one crew was called at 4.30pm today to a fire involving undergrowth and fencing in Union Place.

One engine responded and left the scene at 5.10pm.
