Mountfield Village Voice

The recipients were delighted with their gifts and thank the children very much. On Sunday of course it was the churches turn to celebrate Harvest Festival, and Mountfield Church looked a real picture decorated with so many flowers and so much produce of every kind. It was lovely to have whole families attend, babies and all. After a lovely service, we all transferred to the village hall for an absolutely gorgeous tea! We have some fantastic cooks in Mountfield and they really did us proud. Many thanks to them, and the sandwich makers, and of course to Gussie and Merylin for a non-stop supply of cups of tea, coffee, and squash. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and a big thank you to those who worked so hard in the setting up and preparation. On Monday I had the pleasure of taking all that lovely produce with Bill Humphries to St Nicholas Fellowship in St Leonard’s for which they were extremely grateful and will be able to put to very good use for those in need. Mind you whoever gets one of those monster pumpkins will have to be strong. I couldn’t lift it! One of the generous cake makers left 2 plastic plates and a small basket bowl with doily behind. Please contact Barbara on 01580 880158 for there safe return to you. There will be extend exercise class on Monday 18th October at 9.45am in Mountfield Village hall. Newcomers very welcome. The population of Mountfield has been expanded by 2! Many congratulations to Mum and Dad, Karen and Mark Hardy of Hoath Hill on the birth of their twins, Harry Robert and Freya Rose on the 7th October at the Conquest. Well done, a family of both sexes in one go! We wish you all a very happy future. The Parish Council has ordered two additional grit/salt bins for the Village. They will be situated on the verges 1. Between the driveway to Church House, Mountfield Lane and the “lay-by” opposite the entrance to Mountfield Court. 2. Where a “Road Narrows” sign is installed, just after Hoath Farm Cottage (heading towards the Church). To enable residents of Mountfield to get out and about in conditions of snow and ice, we would ask those who are fit and able enough to spread the salt from any of the grit bins in the vicinity of their homes on the roads. Do please get in touch with me if you are happy to keep an eye on a particular grit bin, to spread salt and tell us when it needs re-filling.
