Pavilion and café should be linked

Sure enough though, RDC are a constant source of amusement and amazement to the likes of myself and (no doubt) Jackie Bialeska.

RDC re-configures the road near the DLWP to no great effect and with a great deal of inconvenience all round. The former garden /amenity area is now a paved road to nowhere in particular.

The latest ‘development’ is a plan to increase the letting attraction of the Colonnade Café by spending £250k - really?

Can you seriously imagine any commercial owner going down that route? What are they on?

Although the Colonnade pre-dates the DLWP, they are geographically linked. I understand there was once a plan to link the two on a subterranian basis.

Given its location and parabolic shape, the Colonnade should ideally be an economic café performance space providing everything that the now corporate Pavilion does not - ie, a regular evening performance/refreshment space that’s open for, in particular, young people.

During the day, a much needed tourist information centre might be established.

The DLWP does not offer any of this and the 9th Earl must be spinning in his grave. Ideally we would have the DLWP Pavilion and the Colonnade Centre as the focal point of Bexhill.

The DLWP is successful in it’s own terms but it does not connect enough (like central government) and is heavily subsidised so, of course, it does well. I wouldn’t, perhaps, take away that money but the RDC should get a much better return.

In my universe, the Pavilion would be directly linked to the Colonnade, the glass wind screens would be re-established, the originally proposed red swimming pontoon would be built and the council would take much more control of the ‘People’s Palace’ for the people in question. I should perhaps point out that any similarities between my proposals and our current national political pan –European difficulties are purely coincidental - honestly.
