Thoughtless munchers at Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park Theatre
ollowing on from Imelda Staunton’s comments on thoughtless munchers in the theatre disturbing the experience for others, can I say that this is by no means solely a West End problem?
Last week at the Devonshire Park, watching the excellent Educating Rita, a couple in the row behind rustled and scoffed huge numbers of sweets throughout the first act.

Hide AdSeveral of us turned round (though none was brave enough to say anything), but the anti-social behaviour continued.
I’m not sure if the noisy couple were eating confectionary sold by the theatre (I hope not) but whatever they were consuming, the noise was most distracting.
Glasses for drink are already banned in the auditorium, maybe food should also be prohibited during the performance?
