The Steyning bypass has been closed after a collision involving four vehicles.
Sussex Police confirmed officers were called to the A283 at 3.38pm to reports of a four-vehicle collision between Dacre Gardens and the roundabout to the A2037.
Four people are receiving medical treatment, police said, but none of the injuries are thought to be life-changing or life-threatening.
The road remains blocked while the vehicles are being recovered.
Traffic travelling between Shoreham and Steyning has been affected and motorists are asked to find alternative routes where possible.
