Three Bridges 1 Faversham Town 4: Bridges' unbeaten home run comes to an end

The pitch was in excellent condition after recent rain but it was still very windy and Faversham Town decided to play with the wind in the first half. Both Kieran Oliver and Jack Harris had early chances, running on to long clearances but the Bridges goalkeeper Kieron Thorp made good saves. Hakeem Adelakumi had a long shot pushed away, then Abu Touray crossed the ball to Tony Garrod whose shot went just wide catching the Faversham Town goalkeeper Simon Overland flat-footed. Both sides were playing well in the windy conditions, Jamie Maxted just failed with a clear header to score and at the other end, John Lansdale saw his shot go just wide. After an altercation between Ben Godfrey and Jamie Maxted, who were both cautioned, the game became very untidy. Faversham Town went down to 10 men after 43 minutes, when Jamie Maxted received a second caution and that allowed Three Bridges to press for a goal but the re-organised Faversham Town defence held firm. Seconds before half-time, Jack Harris put Faversham Town ahead with a close range shot. Five minutes into the second half, Jack Harris got his second goal with a well controlled turn and shot. Ben Godfrey pulled a goal back five minutes later with a close shot from a long throw-in by John Lansdale. On 60 minutes, John Lansdale saw his shot rebound off the cross bar with Tony Garrod picking up the ball and putting the ball into the net, only to be ruled offside. Playing against 10 men, Three Bridges had good chances for Matt Whitehead, Abu Touray and Lee Carney. Then, it all started to go wrong with cautions for Jamie Crellin, Lee Carney and again for John Lansdale, who received a red card. With both sides at 10 men, Faversham Town took control and a further goal for Jack Harris and then a bizarre goal for Jack Harris in added-time when the assistant referee raised his flag for offside, then put it down and ran off. The match officials seemed to lose control of the game in the second half but Bridges players must show better control. Bridges received five cautions and one red card, they are better players than this result shows but they must take a long hard look at themselves.
